UNDERGROUND | HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

HDD | The Preferred Choice

for projects requiring minimal environmental impact and efficient underground utility installation.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a groundbreaking trenchless technology for installing underground pipelines, cables, and conduits with minimal surface disruption. This innovative method relies on precision equipment to drill along a predetermined path, creating a stable underground channel for the desired utility lines. HDD is favored for its efficiency, accuracy, and reduced environmental impact, making it an essential solution for modern infrastructure projects.

Pilot Hole Drilling

A small pilot hole is drilled using a directional drilling machine equipped with tracking systems to ensure alignment with the planned bore path. Advanced guidance tools provide real-time data, allowing operators to make adjustments as needed to navigate soil conditions and maintain accuracy.

Pre-Reaming

The pilot hole is enlarged to accommodate the utility pipe using a reamer. Drilling fluid, often enhanced with additives like bentonite and polymers, is used to stabilize the borehole and efficiently remove cuttings.

Pipe Pullback

Finally, the utility pipe is pulled through the enlarged borehole, aided by drilling fluid that reduces friction and ensures the pipe's smooth installation.

EFFICIENT.
PRECISE.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is an innovative method renowned for its efficiency, precision, and environmental benefits. By employing advanced drilling technology, HDD minimizes surface disruption, allowing for the installation of underground utilities without the need for extensive trenching or excavation. This efficiency translates to reduced project timelines and lower costs compared to traditional methods. The precision of HDD ensures accurate placement of pipelines and cables, even in challenging terrains, using guided bore techniques to navigate beneath obstacles like rivers, roads, and buildings. Environmentally, HDD reduces the ecological footprint by preserving natural landscapes, preventing soil erosion, and minimizing waste generation, making it a sustainable choice for modern infrastructure development.

FAQ | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Time

How long does an HDD Project Take?
Answer: The duration of a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) project depends on factors like the length and diameter of the installation, the type of soil, and the complexity of the terrain. Generally, small-scale HDD projects can take a few days, while larger installations may extend to several weeks.
